Baron Construction & Remodeling Co.

Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsSeptember 28, 2015
The Baron Construction and Remodeling demoed the entire kitchen, and remodeled all the counters and installed new cabinets. They also installed all the appliances. Ensured that the new kitchen meets all the new building codes. Baron Construction and Remodeling did a very professional job and taking our requests and suggestions into consideration. All the workers are polite and professional. The project leader, Eli Levy is very attentive and visited the job site frequently. The owner, Mike Baron also paid several visits personally. They also built a custom bench for our kitchen nook which turned out very nice. For the downstairs bathroom, they also demoed the entire bathroom and built the shower from scratch. They did a great job on the tile for the shower. It is the most beautiful shower in the house now. I would recommend Baron Construction and Remodeling to my friends and other people.

I was looking for a company to do my master and main bathroom renovations, but wanted to start out with a smaller project first - stairwell, ceiling refinishing, and painting - to see how well the company managed the project. I was initially interested in Treeium because I liked the idea that their company was doing their part to be a little more green. From the very first meeting with my project manager through to the end of the project, I felt I had all the information about what they could do with my project and how they would go about meeting my ideas. When we ran into an unexpected structural problem that required additional work before we could move on, my project manager was able to quickly adjust the contract and all the work was still entirely completed on schedule. Having used a number of different contractors for other big projects in my home, I appreciated most that they took care of the 'little things' to make the whole project look complete. They removed some fixtures to work through the whole space instead of taking the short cut of just working around the fixtures. They caulked the gaps left from previous work so that it would blend in perfectly with their work. And, they did some extra finishing on a couple of the walls so that the painting would look even more precise. I was very pleased with the work Treeium did and the ease of working with them, and am planning my bathroom renovations with them now.

We hired s+w kitchens to do a complete tear down and build up of our 2 bedroom beach condo. Adam Vinson of the Palm Harbor office and his crew did a superb job. They worked carefully with us to consider all the options for flooring, paint, countertops, windows, etc and helped us make the proper selections that fit both our taste and our budget. S+W overcame challenges with permits, condo building restrictions, and unexpected structural oddities. The crews that worked on our place were very capable and professional. With the completed job we have a redecorated condo unit that looks fantastic and meets our every need. We are very happy and satisfied and cannot thank S+W and Adam Vinson enough for creating such a wonderful place to live. I would highly recommend S+W to anyone looking to renovate their house or condo.

Our old, disgusting kitchen was in desperate need of a remodel. We wanted everything replaced as well as two of the walls removed so that the kitchen would be more open to the rest of the house. Oren and his team were great from the beginning. He gave us his initial quote and a completion date before he started and he stuck to both the entire time. Naturally, lots of issues/fixes appeared during the remodel (since we went down to studs and it's an old house), but Oren always took care of everything and never charged us more. His guys did an incredible job gutting the kitchen, replacing the floor, cabinets, fixtures, appliances, painting, tiling, rewiring, building a new pantry, removing the old walls, installing new support beams, everything. His crew changed often, but everybody was friendly and cleaned up as best they could at the end of each day. There were a few things that needed to be done more than once since Oren was not present every day to supervise (we had a countertop installed wrong, some crooked outlets, etc.). That said, Oren ALWAYS immediately fixed the problem at no cost to me as soon as possible (and nothing delayed the completion date we were originally given.) Speaking of -- Oren was always available through email (he uses Basecamp), phone, texting, etc. We never waited more than an hour for a response to our question or concern. In addition, we liked Oren and his team so much we also had them replace our galvanized plumbing under the house and our electrical panel. Both were his suggestion, but the decision was left to us, and we never felt pressured. All in all, I think the pictures speak for themselves. Our kitchen was dated and unappealing and SOD turned it into our dream kitchen at the initial price they promised and by the time they promised it by. Oren was always easy to work with, his guys were friendly, and we couldn't be happier with the finished result. We definitely plan to use SOD Builders again.

We wanted to remodel our small kitchen and somehow make it larger. I had several builders bid the job, but only one stood out as the most knowledgeable, Eli from Pure Builders. He gave me a reasonable quote for the huge amount of work. As soon as the building inspectors gave us the go ahead, the demo got started promptly. At this time Adam, also from Pure Builders, took over the project. Communication with Adam throughout the entire project was excellent. The crew showed up promptly and walls and cabinets came down quickly, a new wall was created 4 feet towards the garage. The soffit in the kitchen was removed to match the adjacent room's ceiling hight. This gave the entire area a much larger look. The crew working for Pure was a delight to work with, but above all, they listened to my requests and always did the job to my satisfaction. We are now enjoying our beautiful kitchen, thanks to Pure Builders for making it all possible. This is a "Class Act" operation, I highly recommend.

I hired Welbilt to remodel my kitchen. Ben, the owner is straight forward, sometimes blunt, but I prefer that to someone that is going to waste my time with fancy talk. I had a good experience with them and I will stick to the facts.1. They showed up on time and even worked on the weekends at 8AM.2. If they were going to be late I received a phone call from the owner. This happened once.3. I always had direct access to the owner at all times and he always returned my phone calls promptly.4. If I didn't like some thing or wanted to change it, they accommodated my request. I didn't like the stain of the cabinets (my choice) so they fixed it.5. They completed a Kitchen remodel in 3 weeks! I did not feel rushed but more of a sense of work ethic. As soon as I gave the green light to Ben, his crew was there the next morning and they worked 6 days a week 8-12 hour days to get it done. Even with the ordering of cabinets and granite it all came together.Yes, my house was a bit of a disaster for three weeks but nothing was damaged and Ben provided a cleaning crew when the job was complete. My new kitchen is wonderful! Modern , sleek, and I love entertaining in it! I have never done but I found Welbilt prices fair, not the highest, not the lowest. They worked with my budget so I could get all the "must haves". I am very happy and would recommend them again and again

Before purchasing our house in Palos Verdes Estates, we knew that it would require a lot of work. Both my husband and I have Renovation Hardware taste but wanted to renovate with an IKEA budget. The following were the list of must-have items to renovate: (1) gut the master bathroom; (2) enlarge the master closet by relocating the entrance to the master bathroom; (3) move the HVAC unit from the second floor to the attic; (4) move the washer/dryer from the garage to the second floor (where the HVAC used to be); (5) renovate the kitchen; (6) tear down a load-bearing wall separating the kitchen and the family room; (7) install skylights (4 total skylights). During this time, we added a few things here and there as well. My husband is a perfectionist, and calls himself an “amateur architect” and does a lot of DIY stuff around the house, so he knew EXACTLY what he wanted when renovating the home (he created the layout and design, and hired a licensed architect to prepare the drawings for the permits). A friend referred a general contractor to us, and he agreed to do the job within our budget, but we didn’t get a good feeling from him (seemed unorganized, never returned our calls, was over a week late in returning emails, didn’t have a website or reviews online, and kept sending us bids with the wrong information). We’ve heard nightmare stories about contractors, and so decided to play the field and at least consider other contractors. My husband ended up interviewing around 9 other contractors (all while the house was still in escrow, so that we could start renovating immediately after it closed). The primary concerns were as follows: (1) PRICE; and (2) timing, since I was 7 months pregnant when escrow closed and was in a short-term rental until the house was completed. We needed someone to stay within our budget, and complete the job within 2 months. Easy enough right? NO! All 9 contractors were over our budget, and all of them estimated the job to be completed within 3 to 5 months (2 of them charged almost 5 times our budget and estimated 8 to 9 months. WHAT? It was crazy how far apart these bids were for the same job). So my husband and I decided that we had no choice but to increase our budget, and forget about moving in before the baby was born. The escrow closed in August 2016, and we still didn’t have a contractor. My husband and I were stressed out. Coincidentally, when speaking with a friend of mine from business school (she is known to be detail oriented and do more research than the average person, and I respect her opinion), she recommended California Construction Center, and particularly EZ (he goes by “EZ”). She told me that she did tons of research when adding a new room to her home, and said that EZ was very “easy” (no pun intended) to work with, that the price was one of the lowest she received, that the final product was flawless, that he didn’t go over budget, that he completed the job EARLIER than estimated, and he always picked up the phone when she called. Sounded too good to be true, so I called EZ and met with him. Very nice, knowledgeable, professional, organized (created computer model of what our bathroom would look like, similar to the HGTV shows), and super responsive. We met for a second time to go over the bid (estimate), and my husband and I prepared ourselves to be disappointed once again with the price and the length of construction, but told ourselves that as long as it wasn’t crazy numbers, we would hire him because we felt good about him. To our surprise, EZ’s bid was BELOW OUR BUDGET (we told him what our budget was), and he estimated 6 to 8 weeks (he explained that he knew I was giving birth and would do everything he could to get us in our home beforehand). No brainer, we hired him on the spot, especially because we felt absolutely confident with him. EZ started demolition immediately after being hired. Long story short, EZ passed all building inspections on the first attempt, completed the job ON-TIME, and didn’t charge a penny over what he estimated. During this 7 weeks, my husband and I called EZ almost every day (morning and night - as late as 10:00 p.m. sometimes), and EZ picked up the phone 95% of the time, or else texted me back and returned my call within 5 to 10 minutes. My husband (the perfectionist) envisioned how he wanted the skylights to look (just like the velux catalog - 3 next to each other). After EZ framed the ceiling/roof, my husband said he didn’t like the location. EZ’s response? “OK, I want to make you happy - where do you want it?” EZ changed the location, and afterwards my husband asked again to change the way it looked. EZ’s response? “OK, what would make you happy?” EZ changed it again. My husband changed it for a third time which required new beams, and EZ’s response was always “OK, I can do that. I want to make you happy”. I didn’t like the size of the new window in the new bathroom, and EZ’s response, predictably was “OK, I want to make you happy”. After the framing for the new shower was constructed, it was smaller than I thought it would be (although it was built according to my plans) and asked if we could enlarge it. EZ responded “No problem, if that will make you happy”. We never got sick of hearing that response. EZ never charged us more for making these changes, and simply made these changes because he wanted to make sure we were happy with the construction. Now THAT’s what I want to hear from a contractor. Throughout the project, EZ accommodated us, whether we decided it didn’t look great or if we saw an imperfection. We NEVER had to argue with him once. Again, he had one response: “I want to make you happy” and “I will take care of it”. We also met with EZ’s co-workers, “Ozzie” and “Omer”, and both had the exact same attitude: “We can do that”, “we will make the change” and “we want to make you happy”, without charging us more to make us happy. This made a very stressful time a little less stressful, knowing that the project would come out the way we wanted, and still staying within budget and meeting the deadline. The job is now complete, and we love our new home, especially the areas that were renovated by EZ. Again, the renovations came out even better than we hoped, and we have gotten a lot of compliments. My husband (who is never happy with anything) is actually very happy with the results. Even after the job has been completed, EZ is actually coming back to do one more thing for me, without charge, because I wanted crown molding around a pony wall in the bathroom. EZ never complains or argues, is completely professional, very responsive, absolutely accommodating and understanding, and he truly wants to make sure we are happy with his work. He seems to put customer service at the top of his priority list. It was a pleasure working with him, and I was simply compelled to write this review (which I don’t usually do, especially not such a long one). My husband has already recommended EZ to his brother and to a friend (even though he never recommends anyone because he doesn’t want to feel responsible if things go bad), and we plan on using EZ for any projects in the future. If you are going to hire a contractor, interview as many contractors as you like, but make sure you include EZ.

We recently had the pleasure of working with Evan and his team on the remodel of our Master bathroom. This was a small project compared to the many others OC Builders Group is completing, but we never once felt like we received any less attention. From the beginning, we emphasized to Evan the importance of completing the project as quickly as possible and he took it to heart, finishing the project on time and on budget in a quick three weeks. Evan went out of his way to accommodate us: starting the project the week we were on vacation to minimize the disruption, building an airtight plastic hallway to contain the dust from demolition, picking up the building materials and finishes we ordered from all around Orange County, etc. Evan was beyond responsive, answering text messages and emails with phone calls - often within minutes. Whenever any unexpected issues arose, Evan resolved them quickly and professionally. We remodeled our house a few years ago and had a bad experience with the general contractor; Evan restored our faith in GCs and we couldn't be happier with the final result.
